Who owns MMD models?I was wondering about the reason why Japanese MMD user does not trade MMD models and why oversea MMD user does it.
And I found one answer.
When Japanese MMD user writes the MMD model name and modeler's name in his/her work, he/she uses the word "okarishita mono" very often.
"Okarishita mono" means "things what I BORROWED."
This word shows the way of Japanese MMD users thinking very well.
He/she has MMD model data and he/she can use it, but he/she OWNS nothing.
The modeler is the only person who OWNS MMD model.
Model users are only borrowing models from the modeler.
So, trade of MMD models cannot be possible.
Who can trade the things he/she borrows from someone? - No one!
Even if he/she has quite many number of MMD models, they are not his/her own collection.
So, MMD model trade is very strange for Japanese MMD users.
Many readme written by Japanese modelers do not have the word "No trading" but that does not mean you can trade the models.

Okay, so in the light of the recent MMD drama there's been a lot of confusion about the rules of the Hetalia models. This is my attempt to clear this up, mainly for the sake of everyone in my groups, :iconMikuMikuTalia:, :iconHetalia-MMD-Users: and :iconMMD-Crusaders:. Feel free to post it in any other group where it would be appreciated.
The last few months have been a very confusing time for everyone. I can't wave a magic wand and clear it up, because I'm just another English-speaking MMD user who doesn't know a word of Japanese and who was just as confused as you. However, I do appreciate the rights of the wonderful people who have devoted their time and effort to these beautiful models and feel we should give them respect.
Trying to establish the rules surrounding the models, I looked at several journals on the subject - and discovered that not all of them said the same thing. After subsequent enquiry it appears to me that some of these people are ei
MMD Rules Revised. Please ReadLately there's been confusion over the readme notes on models that come with both an English & Japanese version having different rules/conditions in them.
You're probably thinking it's not fair that the Japanese version has more freedom with editing models than the English one. Then there's this assumption that Japanese modellers are racist. This is not the case. It is merely a misunderstanding and I'll explain it here.
When overseas users break the MMD rules it's hard for the Japanese modellers to handle it because there is a language barrier. It's very difficult for a modeller to talk to the culprit when they both come from a different culture. It's a huge burden for them to go through a language obstacle just to reason with someone who can't speak the same language as them, let alone try to resolve a situation where rules have been violated. On the other hand, when the culprit and modeller are both Japanese, it's easy to resolve because both people are from the same culture so there
Clearing things upSo recently there has been some drama about the Hetalia models and the "no yaoi" rule. I just wanna clear this up. Only a few of the models are affected by this rule. I found this out by scouring the readmes, using my own knowledge of Japanese and a few professional translators, I came up with a list of models that are and aren't affected:
America: YES (no R rated stuff)
Canada: YES
Cuba: YES
England: YES (but no R rated stuff)
Sweden: NO
Denmark: YES
France/Germany/Austria/Prussia: YES if you follow the English rules (which means you don't edit them) But NO if you follow the Japanese rules.
Greece: YES
Hong Kong: YES
Japan: YES
China: YES (no R rated)
Norway: YES (no R)
Sealand: YES (no R)
Finland: YES (no R)
Estonia: YES (no R rated)
Russia: YES (no R rated)

Now to hana's rules. You all may already know that hana included two sets of rules with her models. One was an English readme and the other was Japanese
What I have learnedNow I've been in the MMDC for a while and I've learned a few things. The MMDC is not ALL bad actually. The way I see it, there are two sides to it just like there is to everything else. There is the good side and the bad side. But sadly, the bad side tends to stand out more than the good.
I've made some very good friends in  the MMDC, and I like to consider myself a well respected member of this so called "community", however it has come to my attention again and again that this bad side of the community is steadily growing. Mostly it's because people are acting childishly and without reason.
People do things like openly trading and distributing illegal edits. If this were a normal social society, such people would be considered criminals. (not trying to offend here, just speaking metaphorically)
Also, there are those who claim to be "reforming" themselves. And then they turn around and do the same illegal activity OPENLY. I don't think they realize that by doing so, they are

Platonic love and familial love is allowed! However, romance is not allowed to all the models the "no love rule" applies to.
You can stop "rebelling" now. All "rebellious" pictures will be removed from this group for respect to the modelers. If you are still confused, the "no love" rule applies to fluffy romance/shonen-ai as well. Some of the rules still need to be cleared up, but at least we understand that we can still make models hug.
I worry that the modelers will get more enraged if they see "rebellious" pictures in the group's gallery, and they will get the wrong idea about us being a hate group.
We are not MMD Police, we are against the police. We don't like when people yell at others for breaking rules, even when it was just an accident. Accidents happen, there are so many different rules for different models that sometimes, we forget.
And there is still confusion between English and Japanese readmes. That is another

There is a lot of people who use "I can't read Japanese." for excuse.
It is not an indulgence.
It is not a magical sentence that someone permit telling you a password or hint.

I'm glad that you make these rules.
Japanese modelers want everyone to keep model's rules.
and
I want you(non-Japanese) to know that some hetalia modelers do not allow to use for "yaoi content".
"yaoi content" is "slash fiction content", in other words "same-sex couple love content".
in Japanese readme.txt, that is written "腐表現", "BL表現" or "同性愛表現".
but many Japanese modelers can't write that in English.
some modelers do not allow to use for love content(same-sex or not).
If you want to make a movie or image with the hetalia model, but the content is illegal,
I usually say for them that if you want to make anything with the model, you should make the model yourself.
I know that Modeling is difficult, but NOT impossible.

About the "No Yaoi" rule

Okay, thanks to :iconnononop: we have clarification about the "No Yaoi" rule.
You see most Hetalia MMD modelers have this rule in their readme and have had it for a long time (Even the oldest version of England had it so that's pretty long). The reason why we've never really seen/heard of it before is because the Japanese names for "Yaoi/Shounen-ai/BL" do not translate correctly with machine translation.

Here are the most common Japanese words for Yaoi/Shounen-ai/BL(Boys' love) -
"腐表現", "BL表現" ,"同性愛表現", "女子向け", "腐向け", "女性向け"

And, in Japan these words do not cover just the "harder" things (Like, how Yaoi is more explicit stuff and shounen-ai is more lighter)
They cover everything. From soft romance (hugging,light kisses) to more explicit stuff such as making out and heavy petting. Of course as general pretty much all MMD models have a no R-18 rule.

Also, some models even have a "no love" rule. Which means, regardless of gender of not, they would not like you to pair up their model with any other character.

EDIT: Just because a model has a "no romance" rule or a "no BL" rule it doesn't mean that they can't touch. They can touch in a friendly manner, as long as it's not romantic then it's okay :)

I've tried my best to go over each model's readme and make a list of which modelers have this rule, and which do not. I also added the exact part of the readme in original Japanese, so in case I've made any mistakes please correct me. However, note that just because a model doesn't have this rule you can do whatever you like. Please try to be respectful. :)

I know I've probably missed a few models, but I've tried to go over the most popular ones for now until I can get to the others. As a given we're going to remove our Romance folder and any pictures that violate these terms (it won't count as a strike) and will not accept any pictures that break a model's rule.

As we've said before, we do not want to be liable for the anger of modelers.
They're responsible for all the lovely models we have, spend countless hours on them and work hard so we can enjoy them. They have every right to put whatever rule they want on them no matter how "unfair" it may seem because they made the model themselves and have full copyright to it.

Always be sure to try and double check a model's readme before making a romance picture! :)

I hope you all understand, they're already a bit uneasy about this so I think the best thing for us to do is to try not to upset them any further.

I can accept the no Yaoi rule . . . (Grudgingly . . .) Just means we have to put more though into our pictures. (My two SuFin pics that I've done aren't even ACTUALLY yaoi, but I'm sure someone could try to make them yaoi. In the description, I tell what's going on, though, so . . . I'm not actually trying to break the rules, though. I don't like to make a habit of having people yell at me.)

I did find a sort of loophole in Sweden's ReadMe, though! It says no yaoi in VIDEOS. Doesn't say no yaoi in pictures, though. :3 And Finland's ReadMe doesn't say either way . . . So does that mean SuFin pictures are a go? Hmmm . . .

Well, maybe the model maker thought that Americans would be less likely to break the rules if they were given SOME sort of outlet for their yaoi needs.
